The U.S. Department of Education's inaugural Principal Ambassador Fellowship (PAF) "will provide outstanding principals who have a record of leadership, student achievement, strong communication skills, and insights from their school experiences an opportunity to highlight the voice of the principal within the education community and the country at large."

Fellows will work on a "part-time basis in addition to their primary work as principals around the country, for up to approximately 20 hours a month, occurring after school hours and on the weekends, from approximately October 2013 to June 2014. Campus Principal Ambassador Fellows will be paid on an hourly basis to contribute their perspectives to the Department. Additionally the program is designed to allow participants to gain valuable professional development and experience with federal policies and information to share with their colleagues and school communities."

The salary range is $40.58 to $52.76  per hour.
