SEA Communities of Practice: Learning More About the 2011 Updated Nonregulatory Guidance

The National Charter School Resource Center hosted a webinar May 25, 2011 about the U.S. Department of Education's recently updated nonregulatory guidance for the Charter Schools Program. This document clarifies or provides guidance on issues such as the following: allowable expenses, lottery exemptions, charter school governing boards’ relationships with for-profit management organizations, factors that determine whether a school is new or an expansion, and the relationship between public charter schools and private schools. Featured presenters included Scott Pearson and Richard Payton, leaders from the Charter Schools Programs in the Office of Innovation and Improvement at the U.S. Department of Education.
