Description

The National Charter School Resource Center hosted a webinar December 22, 2011, which provided a preview of the National Authorizer Resource for an audience of state education agency (SEA) leaders. The National Authorizer Resource is a comprehensive, national database that publicly identifies charter schools and their authorizers and provides detailed information about charter school approval, renewal, and closure decisions. This will be the only publicly available database that connects charter schools across the country to their authorizers, documents authorizers’ decisions, and links to federal data on student performance in charter schools.

Our featured presenter was Joni Pearlman, a senior consultant at American Institutes for Research with deep expertise in data use. Pearlman is leading the development of the National Authorizer Resource for the National Charter School Resource Center. During the webinar, she described the functionality of the database and provided SEA leaders with an opportunity to provide feedback on the National Authorizer Resource before it becomes widely available to the public.
