Special Education (Minnesota State Evaluation Report)

This March 2013 report from the Minnesota Office of the Legislative Auditor evaluates special education delivery in the state. The proportion of public school students receiving special education has increased from 11.9 percent in 2000 to 13.6 percent in 2011, with school district spending of state special education funds increasing 22 percent to $1.1 billion over the same period. The report includes information about special education cooperatives, the role of charter schools, funding trends, and compliance.

Exploring Success in the Charter Sector

This 2008 report presents findings from exploratory case studies of six charter schools identified due to their reported success educating children with disabilities. The case studies were exploratory in nature, documenting what charter schools are offering children with disabilities. Selected schools were perceived to be innovative or particularly successful with children with disabilities.
