Civics Education in Charter Schools Focus of AEI Panel Discussion, Report

This panel discussion hosted by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) on Sept. 14, 2011, focused on charter schools and civics education and featured charter school leaders Mike Feinberg of the Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP), Seth Andrew of Democracy Prep, and Juan Rangel of the UNO Charter School Network, as well as Center on Reinventing Public Education Associate Director Robin Lake. The panel was moderated by AEI Education Policy Studies Director Frederick M. Hess. David Feith, co-founder of the Civic Education Initiative to strengthen civics knowledge, introduced the subject.

Fundraising Basics: Developing an Effective Fund Development Program

This 2011 Master Class outline from the National Association of Public Charter Schools (NAPCS) provides critical information about the basics of fundraising, resources and tools to further pursue the issues, and clear guidance about effective methods. The outline is presented by NAPCS Development Director Rhonda Fischer and Lyman Millard, who directs development at Citizens Academy and Breakthrough Charter Schools in Cleveland, Ohio.

Green School Design Essentials

The Green Schools National Network has developed Green School Design Essentials, which consist of four main components, each with four additional elements. "A Green School uses these Design Essentials to create a comprehensive green culture that enhances student health and learning while saving resources and sustaining our world," a copy of the Design Essentials document states.
