Performance Framework Orientation and Use

This presentation provides an introduction to the Core Performance Framework and Guidance developed by the National Association of Charter School Authorizers (NACSA) to support charter school evaluation and a summary of the adaptation and use of the framework in New Jersey. The presentation  outlines key elements of the framework and offers examples of renewal data and analyses for two sample New Jersey schools.

Connecting Research to Practice: The Effects of Charter Schools—A Forum on Research, Practice, and Authorizing Policy

REL Midwest hosted this December 2011 webinar for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders across all seven REL Midwest states to increase their understanding of the research on charter school effectiveness and authorizing policies in the region. Dr. Mark Berends of the National Center on School Choice provided an overview of findings from rigorous research evaluating charter school effectiveness and identified specific evidence-based practices associated with high-performing charter schools.

Charter School Authorizers: Special Education Requirements and Including Students with Disabilities in Charter Schools

This PowerPoint presentation was prepared for use in training related to the Primers on Special Education and Charter Schools. The Primers were developed by the SPEDTACS Project and funded by the U. S. Department of Education. This presentation is related to the primer for charter school authorizers. The primers were developed to provide background information and resources to facilitate the successful inclusion of students with disabilities in charter schools.
