This 2001 article makes recommendations for addressing standards and assessments on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). IEPs need to reflect goals and services that support students with disabilities in their learning toward high educational standards. Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

This National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities website provides information about Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. This civil rights law prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability and applies to public elementary and secondary schools, among other entities. Section 504's definition of disability is broader than the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act's definition.

Part B addresses assistance for education of all children with disabilities. The website provides details about the subsections of Part B, including eligibility for funding for states and Local Education Agencies (LEAs). Many charter schools qualify as their own LEA.
