Fund for Teachers Grants to Be Announced in March
At least 79 grants have been awarded to charter school teachers since 2006 through the Fund for Teachers, a Houston, Texas-based not-for-profit organization that provides fellowships to PK-12 teachers to expand their horizons and enhance their work in the classroom. Grant recipients for 2011 are expected to be announced by March 31, according to the Fund.
Overall, more than $14 million in grants has been awarded to nearly 4,000 educators, who design their own fellowship projects. Up to $5,000 is offered for individuals and $10,000 for teams. Fellows have traveled to 115 countries. More information is available at Teacher Project Search.
The Fund was started by Raymond Plank, founder and retired chairman of Apache Corporation, an oil and gas exploration and production company.
