The U.S. Department of Education’s Charter Schools Program (CSP) plans to award 2013 Credit Enhancement for Charter Schools Facilities grants using the applicants developed for the program in the 2011 fiscal year, according to an announcement on April 17, 2013.

“A significant number of high-quality applications remain on the grant slate and, given the limited funding available for the program in FY 2013 relative to the typical grant amount, CSP believes the benefits of running a new competition are outweighed by the cost of spending program dollars on peer review,” the announcement stated.

The program provides support to "enhance the credit of charter schools so that the charter schools can access private-sector and other non-Federal capital in order to acquire, construct, and renovate facilities at a reasonable cost."
