A charter school leader is among the U.S. Department of Education's first Principal Ambassador Fellows (PAF).

Sharif El-Mekki of Mastery Charter School - Shoemaker Campus, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is among the program fellows chosen from a pool of more than 450 applicants, according to a Department announcement on December 9, 2013.

The U.S. Department of Education’s Charter Schools Program is inviting public comment on its notice of proposed priorities, requirements, and definitions for CSP Grants for National Leadership Activities.

The notice was published in the Federal Register on December 3, 2013.

The Department stated that it "may use these proposed priorities, requirements, and definitions for a National Leadership Activities competition in FY2014 and beyond.
