A charter school leader is among the U.S. Department of Education's first Principal Ambassador Fellows (PAF).

Sharif El-Mekki of Mastery Charter School - Shoemaker Campus, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is among the program fellows chosen from a pool of more than 450 applicants, according to a Department announcement on December 9, 2013.

The principals in the program will serve until August 2014 to lend the perspective of school principals to the work of the Department.
