$250,000 Broad Prize Goes to YES Prep Public Schools

YES Prep Public School of Houston, Texas, was announced as the winner of the inaugural Broad Prize for Public Charter Schools at the 2012 National Charter Schools Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The $250,000 annual award honors the urban public charter school system that has “demonstrated the most outstanding overall student performance and improvement in the nation in recent years while reducing achievement gaps for poor and minority students,” according to the The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation announcement. The funds go to college readiness efforts for low-income students.
