U.S. Department of Education: Race to the Top--District

The purpose of this program "is to build on the lessons learned from the state competitions conducted under the Race to the Top program and to support bold, locally directed improvements in learning and teaching that will directly improve student achievement and educator effectiveness." Prospective applicants are urged to provide notice by August 30, 2012, of intent to apply in order to aid development of a more efficient process for reviewing applications. Estimated total funding for the program is $383 million, with 15 awards expected.
