The Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice, started in 2012, recognizes “exceptionally effective teachers working in high-poverty public schools” with a $25,000 award, a summer residency to reflect on their “classroom practice, explore the larger issues that shape their profession, and write a short paper on the elements of effective teaching.” No more than five teachers are awarded the prize annually. The early application deadline is December 3, 2012.
