Excellence in Urban Education Award
During the 2012-13 school year, the National Center for Urban School Transformation will award four schools as Gold-Level Winners of the Excellence in Urban Education Award. The top honors, awarded to one elementary school (serving no higher than 6th grade), middle school (no higher than 9th grade), high school (no lower than 9th grade) and an alternative school, will be selected from among a pool of 25-30 Bronze-Level winners. Top prizes include two (2) expense-paid trips to the National Symposium on Excellence in Urban Education (May 23, 2013) and cash awards of $5,000. Silver-Level winners will be given cash awards of $2,500.
The application process is reliant on a good deal of data, narrative, and a video submission. All applicants successfully completing the application process will be featured on the NCUST website. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on November 14, 2012. Charter schools are encouraged to apply.
